Home Lifestyle WHERE ARE THEY NOW? – Warden Chipolopolo eyes comeback

Do you know what today is? Flashback Friday and we are flashing back to days when popular singer-rapper Chipolopolo who released a hit song ‘She-Me’ allegedly dissing multi-award-winning artist, Gazza.

Real name Jackson Haufiku, Chipolopolo rose to fame in the early 2000s and got signed under Yaziza entertainment owned by his longtime friend, Sunny boy, and made a couple of songs together.
He is known for his socially mindful lyrics and complex flow, however, the artist who was blooming at the beginning of his music career went missing in action and made a vain come back in 2017.

In case you have been wondering where he has been? Entertainment Now! caught up with Chipolopolo who bluntly speaks his mind.
Asked to give his opinion on the current music industry, Chipolopolo said back in their days, hard work and talents were the way forward for many artists, but things changed over the years.
“Nowadays, any Jack and Jill with resources can be considered an artist,” he said.

The good, bad, and regrets
“My best memory was sitting and smoking with my idol Zola, meeting the South African music group, Trompies, and sharing a beer with the Bongo Muffin boys,” he laughed before adding that some of the saddest moments he can remember were the envy and witchcraft some musicians used for them to have an upper hand.
Asked if he has any regrets? Chipolopolo sarcastically said he regrets that he was ambitious enough to be in an industry where people are against each other and where artists envy others for being good at what they do.

Dos and Dont’s in the music industry
•    Do what you know is best for you. Not every advice is good for you so always listen to people that have been with you before fame.
•    Beware of fake friends.
•    You must know that this is Namibia, not Nigeria, South Africa, or the States. Sing in your vernacular so that your people can relate.
•    Groupies can be your downfall.
•    Drugs can overtake you and kill your fame.

What we have been missing
Just like many artists who go on a musical break due to other commitments, Chipolopolo is no exception.
He said he is now a government servant working for the correctional service and also pursuing an honours degree in education.
“I am here to stay; I never left the industry; I am just not into being seen around or heard, but the studio is still my place to relax. I shall never quit something I know I’m good at. I’m an element of surprise, so rest assured you will always hear me on the radio, but TV is not my thing,” adding that he has grown roots in the music industry.
Letting us into his personal agendas, Chipolopolo stated that he is not yet married, but there is a lucky lady.
“I am not sure if I have kids, but you never know. Any lady can prove me wrong,” he replied when asked if he has children yet.
To all fans questioning the return of their favourite, Chipolopolo confirmed that he is back in the studio.
“Whatever you heard so far from other artists cannot be compared to what I’m busy cooking. I’m second to none,” he concluded.
