WINDHOEK – Three men made a first appearance in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court relating to a break-in at Wimpy Restaurant at Wernhill Park. Frans Amunyela, Festus Stephanus and Victor Kahamba were not asked to plead and their rights to legal representation were explained to them.
Amunyela informed Magistrate Jermaine Muchali Muchali that Vetu Uanivi represents him, while Stephanus and Kahamba said that they would conduct their own defense.
According to information available the three cut a hole in the roof of the eatery to gain entrance last Friday night. It is said someone doing inspection rounds at the premises came across the roof and alerted the City Police who allegedly found the three suspects inside the popular eatery.
They are charged with housebreaking with intent to steal and theft. It is alleged they were caught in possession of two MP3 players, one Ipod and one USB cable valued at N$2770. The case was postponed to March 10 for further police investigation and each accused was granted bail of N$1 000.
