WINDHOEK – A total of five hundred and twenty professionals (520), made up of 130 teams of four, recently braved the Namibian searing heat to complete in the 20-km long Bank Windhoek Corporate Challenge Relay at the Trustco United Sport

Club in Olympia, Windhoek.

The gathering attracted 32 teams more than last year in the walk or run relay, a partnership between Bank Windhoek and Trustco United Sport Club.

Participants competed in the Men, Women, Mixed and Veterans categories, jogging and walking under the scorching Namibian heat in a bid to revitalise their mind and bodies and adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Namibia Construction teams dominated the top 10, with City Concrete 1 (Namibia Construction) crowned the overall winner, cloking 1-hour-27-minutes-and-34 seconds. The team also clinched victory in the men’s (run) category.

City Concrete 1 finished 2nd last year, followed by Rene Kids Centre of Rehoboth and City Concrete 3 (Namibia Construction) in that order.

Other teams from Namibia Construction also finished in the top 10 bracket except, number 7, which went to Fast & Furious 2 (Burmeister & Partners).

In the Mixed (run) category, Wilderness Safaris 1 was the winner, ending on 1 hour, 51 minutes and 33 seconds. Gobabis Gymnasium Mixies (Windhoek Gymnasium) and DebMarine 1 (DebMarine Namibia) were placed 2nd and 3rd respectively.

In the Women’s (run) category, Eros Girls 1 (Eros Girls Secondary Schools) were the first to touch the finishing line in a time of 2 hours, 9 minutes and 35 seconds tailed by Koeksisters (Windhoek Harriers) and Fast & Furious 1 (Burmeister & Partners).

Two veteran teams, both in the walking category, took part in the race but it was the Daisies (Bank Windhoek) that came out victorious in this category, leaving Fabulous 40 (Open) to pick up the pieces for 2nd spot.
