GOBABIS

A 43-year-old woman was arrested for illegal possession of dagga on Monday evening while travelling between Leonardville and Gobabis.

The woman, Magrieta Rooi, was found in possession of 152 grams of dagga, with a street value of N$456.

Reacting to a tip-off, the police pulled off an unregistered and unlicensed yellow mini bus carrying about 13 passengers.

The vehicle reportedly belonging to a pastor, Christain Janste, was pulled off after it was established that it did not have the necessary authorization to operate commercially, according to unit commander of the traffic department in Gobabis, Rudolph Funi Skrywer.

The woman gave herself away, said Detective Sergeant Martin Clark of the drug squad unit, when she acted suspiciously.

Last week, the Gobabis Police stopped three trucks coming from South Africa through the Botswana border and found 318 grams of dagga valued at N$954.

Six Namibian nationals were apprehended and given bail of N$500 each. The suspects are Michael Witbooi (25), Isack Subulelo (56), Loretha Harodo??????’??
