Reinhilde Mbambo, 26, from Kehemu was denied bail yesterday when she appeared in court on a charge of murder.
She was arrested on Friday after she allegedly fought and stabbed her female cousin, Ngambera Elisabeth Ndungati, aged 29, under the left shoulder. The incident happened on Friday at about 10h00 in Kehemu near the suspect’s home.
Ngambera succumbed to her injuries shortly after her admission to Rundu State Hospital.
Sources who were in the vicinity when the incident occurred told New Era that Mbambo went to Ndama location early that morning to fetch her now-deceased cousin for a few drinks at Kehemu, where the suspect lived.
After the drinking session they got involved in a fight – for reasons as yet unknown – whereafter the suspect reportedly ran into the neighbour’s house and grabbed a knife the neighbours were using to cut meat and stabbed the deceased twice, once under the left shoulder and once above the abdomen.
Mbambo appeared before Magistrate Sonia Samupofu, while Emma Mayavero prosecuted. Mbambo was denied bail due to the seriousness of the charge, but was advised to submit a formal bail application. Her case was remanded to April 28 for further police investigations.
