Woman dies after being swept away in river

A 29-year-old woman has died after a tragic drowning incident on Saturday at the Buitepos border post in the Omaheke region. 
According to the police, the woman and her boyfriend were swept away by water after attempting to cross a river. 
The incident occurred at about 20h30. 

The boyfriend, who is a local police officer, survived after he was rescued. 
According to the police report, it is alleged that at around 20h30, the two were walking home and came across a flooded river which they attempted to cross. 

“The Kalahari police station was informed by some boys who were walking behind the two and witnessed the incident and searched for the two,” the police said. 
“The male victim was found holding to a branch of a tree in the water and was rescued. His condition is good. The female victim was found stuck in another tree but was declared dead by the nurse on the scene.” 
The female victim was identified as Lynn Mary Tsuos. Her next of kin were informed.

Man stabbed to death

Meanwhile, in an unrelated matter, a 23-year-old man died after he was stabbed with a knife on the chest for unknown reasons by a well-known suspect. 

The incident also occurred on Saturday at about 21h45 at David Mbango Street, Babilon location in Windhoek. 
The deceased, who was identified as Lamek Phillip Nehale, was allegedly stabbed during an argument over a cell phone involving the suspect and another unknown person. 

“The suspect is well-known but other particulars are not known. 
The suspect fled the scene after he stabbed the deceased. 
The next of kin of the deceased were informed and efforts in tracing the suspect are in the process.”
