We are our own worst enemy

Home Youth Corner We are our own worst enemy

Windhoek

Individuality is one of the survival traits we are all blessed with, but only a few people make positive use of the quality of being unique individuals.

We label other people as our enemies, but little are we aware of the fact that we are our own worst enemies. Only negative energy can be of real danger to you, only not believing in yourself will bring huge failure in your life, only doubting your competencies will limit your aptitudes.

Sometimes – if not in all cases – comparing yourself to others in a negative way brings nothing but unhappiness to your life. Never accept anyone else’s definition of your life, but define yourself.

Some people spend too much time on their phones doing nothing, but admiring others on social media, being aware of other people, while you are busy neglecting yourself. You are an individual and you do not need to be like the next person. Stop inflicting this kind of pain on yourself.

The best you can do for yourself is to know what you really want in life. Work towards achieving this to very best you can. The right kind of way for the next person may not be your right kind of way. Realise that different people have different strengths and weaknesses, so find your spot and use it to your advantage. By doing this you are creating a better version of yourself.

Start doing things for yourself and stop doubting your abilities. If you set your mind to something it is absolutely up to you to make it happen. If you have your mind set on losing a few kilos, then work on it and do not just sit on the couch doubting that the achievement is within your reach.

Just remember that you should be comfortable in your own skin at all times. In school we sometimes find ourselves not doing well academically. Some people often blame it on their abilities and tend to think that others who make it are born with talent.

I mean, who was born with the endowment of passing? Everybody makes it happen for themselves. Some people may catch up in class just by paying close attention. Some may achieve it better by teaching themselves. You might be one of those that need to read thoroughly to make it, but this does not make you less of an achiever.

Be proud of who you are. You are the only one that can do a better job at being yourself than anyone.

Today is a new day. You shouldn’t let fear, or comparisons with others interfere with your destiny. Let today be the day you stop being a victim of your circumstances and start taking action towards the life you want. You have the power and the time to shape your life.

Embrace the truth of your greatness by being your own special person. Embrace your individuality. You were not born for a mediocre life, but to live your life!
