Yo Maps returns with a bang

Yo Maps returns with a bang

After a previous stint that resulted in him getting arrested due to non-compliance and not having the right documentation to perform in Namibia, Zambian songwriter, music producer and singer Yo Maps returned once again to the Land of the Brave to perform.

He performed at Walvis Bay’s SteakHouse before coming back to Windhoek to fill up The Temperature.

Organisers and some fans say the shows were a resounding success, as both events were packed to capacity.

Known as Elton Mulenga, the 29-year-old ‘Finally’ hitmaker has found Namibia as his home when it comes to acknowledging the immense appreciation he receives from his supporters here. Event organiser Peter Musonda said this was the best comeback, and the artist put his best foot forward, making sure the crowd enjoyed every cent spent.

“Supporters were so happy, and the shows were successful in both towns. Most importantly, people were safe and had fun, which is the most important thing about show hosting,” indicated the Zanami Festival founder.

He said an act of such nature where two countries unite in music is beautiful to witness as music is universal after all.

As the crowd kept on being backup vocalist for Yo Maps, they left no song unsung, from ‘Don’t Go Away’ to ‘Aweah’, to a lot of other ballads with catchy phrases.

“Thank you so much for the love, Namibia. I take nothing for granted,” stated Yo Maps on his Instagram after the show. -psiririka@nepc.com.na
