Youth energy forum takes on Lüderitz

In a strategic move to foster a new generation of leaders in oil and gas, hydrogen and renewable energy industries, the Namibia Youth Energy Forum (NYEF) has expanded its operations to Lüderitz to respond to a growing demand for an energy youth platform in the region.

Fanuel Shinedima, the forum’s founder, said by establishing a presence in Lüderitz, NYEF intends to provide local youth with the resources and support they need to excel in the energy sector, and become active contributors to Namibia’s sustainable future.

“Our expansion into Lüderitz is a landmark moment for NYEF because we recognise the immense potential and enthusiasm among the youth in Lüderitz, and are committed to creating a platform that empowers and informs them about Namibia’s energy landscape and developments within their town,” he indicated.

He called on various stakeholders to actively support the forum, and invest in young people by providing resources, citing “Together, we can build a sustainable and innovative energy future for Namibia.”

The NYEF is dedicated to engaging and empowering young Namibians in the energy sector by offering a range of programmes designed to educate, inspire and create opportunities for the youth to become leaders and changemakers in Namibia’s energy industry.

“We are committed to offering scholarships, internships and work opportunities with industry organisations and government agencies. Additionally, NYEF supports young entrepreneurs with business assistance and funding to help them succeed in the energy sector,” stated Shinedima.

The youthful leader disclosed the NYEF has established itself as a crucial force in engaging and inspiring the next generation to shape Namibia’s energy landscape. Further, he detailed that the mission of the forum is to educate, inspire and create opportunities for young people through a comprehensive programme that includes educational resources, workshops and online discussions designed to deepen their understanding of the energy industry.

Shinedima said young people in Lüderitz who want to be part of the forum may email their application to info.nyef@gmail.com.

At the Namibia International Energy Conference earlier this month, Nyeuvo Amukushu, Founding Director of Women in Oil, Gas and Energy Namibia, said Namibian youth are qualified, capable, and have the skills.

“There is a need for building a bridge between the current leaders and the youth who want to get into the sector. We want to introduce those platforms of bringing [leaders] and youth to the conversation,” she said.
