The Youth Zone on Saturday is one of the highlights of the //Ae //Gams Arts and Cultural Festival with extensive choice of activities targeted for children and the youth for them to be appreciate of arts and tickle and unleash their creativity.
The //Ae //Gams Arts and Cultural Festival that focuses on celebrating the cultural diversity of Windhoek begins today with exciting activities lined up during the course of the festival. Activities for kiddies will entail amongst others: jumping castles with slide and pool, Spiderman castle, water balloon and face painting. Other interactive activities will include: magic tricks, clown performances, small dance workshops and performances.
The festival aims to celebrate, preserve and revive cultural heritage, share traditions and allow the residents of the City educate and learn from one another. Amongst many of its objectives is the recovery of the peoples’ beliefs as well as creating a platform for local entertainers to showcase their talents.
Tomorrow there is poetry writing on the pavement using chalk, norms presented by groups from rural areas and arts in a public space in the form of drawing and painting, stone sculpting, sand art and textiles. There are also productions looking at issues affecting everyday life in the city, 25 years after independence.
On Friday, there will be a taste of Windhoek’s mouth-watering local and international food, and a live band concert. The event will close with a music concert for the adrenaline junkies. The Zoo Park will be the venue hosting the festivals activities. The will start on different times fluctuating from 10h00 to 22h00.
