WINDHOEK– The International Association of Students in Economic and Commercial Sciences, AIESEC Namibia is urging all interested Namibian youths to feel free to apply for internship through bit.ly/GCDPNamibia, tonata.shaningwa@aiesec.net or Facebook @ AIESEC Namibia before six O’clock on November 14.

This is for the 2014 intake starting in December this year. The exchange programmes include Entrepreneurship & Marketing with attachment to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to increase their brand awareness and market, help them in fundraising events to get funding to run their operations and to work towards finding sponsor partners. In terms of Culture Education internees will  teach basic subjects  such asEnglish, Mathematic and Computer Skills to kindergarten children, high school or university students. In another exchange programme participants would be involved in Health & Environment campaigns to  raise awareness health and environmental related issues. During the exchanges, participants take part in and create workshops, community service activities, team building exercises, meetings with community leaders, leadership development and live with internationals.
The programmes are tenable in countries such as Brazil,China,Egypt,Kenya,India,Malaysia,Mauritius,Mozambique,Russia,South Africa,Taiwan,Tanzania,Turkey,Venezuela, Ghana, Uganda, and many more.The following Namibian youths last year took part in different volunteering programmes: Susanna Mpinge and Israel Gawiseb (Brazil);  Tonata Shaningwa and Patricia Hangula (China); Sam Uutoni (India); Sorry Ameya (South Africa); Uahamisa Kaimu (Ghana); Christine Haansande (Uganda) and Tuli Mekandjo and Felicia Mushabati who went to Mozambique.

 

The benefits of the programmes include cross-cultural experience as the participants get to live and work with people from different countries and continents, visit a new place and impact it; engage in self-development and skill enhancement and thereby enhances their curriculum vitae as well increasing their social responsibility by participating in projects based on global issues.They would further have the opportunity to gain practical experience in a foreign country; the chance to create a vast network of professional contacts; experience a new cultural and professional environment; enhance their abilities to challenge their perspectives about the world around them as well as have chance to make a positive impact on society.

The exchange programmes are between six and eight weeks and the internship starting the first week of December include accommodation and food provided or not, depending on project and host country. The AIESEC Fees is N$1250 but this does not include light tickets, visa fees, pocket money and any other fees which the participants must cover themselves. Students and recent graduates (not matter field of study) between 18 and 30 years; understand the value of the internship: cross-cultural positive impact and personal development, have particular interest in social issues topics and are fluent in English (other languages are an advantage) may apply.
