Zambezi entrepreneurs to receive tailoring training

Zambezi entrepreneurs to receive tailoring training

KATIMA MULILO – Twenty selected entrepreneurs from Zambezi region’s eight constituencies will receive two-weeks training in tailoring and fashion design.

The training is an initiative of the Zambezi Regional Council and is funded by the Community Skills Development Foundation (Cosdef) Oyetu Project.

Addressing the participants, Zambezi Regional Council chairperson Matengu Simushi stated that the training will not only enhance the participants’ tailoring skills, but will also serve as an opportunity for them to embrace creativity and innovation.

“In today’s rapidly-changing environment, it is crucial to build networks and support systems that allow us to thrive. Over the next two weeks, you will engage in hands-on learning, share insights and develop solutions that can be applied in your different business settings,” stated Simushi.

He added that the training is not just about learning a trade; it is about preparing for a sustainable future. “The skills you acquire here will empower you and open doors to new opportunities.”

Cosdef Oyetu Project manager Samuel Sheyanena pointed out that the foundation is united in a mission much larger than just fashion design, but to empower, uplift and create lasting change in the lives of the people of Zambezi.

“Oyetu Project extends beyond the classroom. It is about creating a sustainable ecosystem for growth, where the products created by our skilled artisans are marketed aggressively, both locally and internationally. The business division within Cosdef ensures that the products made by our trained individuals find their way into the market, giving them the recognition and success they deserve,” stated Sheyanena.

He said the individuals were chosen not only because of their potential, but because of their passion and drive to succeed. Sheyanena further encouraged the participants to honour the rare opportunity they have been given with dedication, hard work and commitment.

“Remember, there is power in the skills you will learn, and there is money to be made in fashion design, if you have the right mindset. Don’t let anything or anyone tell you otherwise. The world is waiting for your creativity, your talent and your passion. So, go ahead and make your mark in this industry,” he implored.
