ZyX aims to inspire with her music

Pauline Heita, also known as ZyX, draws inspiration from the daily lives of people and her own experiences, to create music that resonates with listeners.

Hailing from the northern part of Namibia, her music represents her country, incorporating her mother tongue (Oshiwambo) in almost every song and creating a sense of belonging. Incorporating diverse cultural backgrounds adds a rich flair to her artistic expression.

In an interview with VIBEZ!, she said her music aims to inspire happiness, offering an escape from reality, and providing motivation for listeners.

Notably, her collaboration with J Papi Chulo on the song “Teelelenge” is a testament to motivating individuals to run their own race in life.

“Both music and arts (drawing) help me communicate better. Arts explains a certain talent that I can’t really put into music and vice versa,” she said.

Speaking of challenges faced by female artists in Namibia, Heita highlighted the hardships and silencing that occurs in a male-dominated industry, saying it’s hard to even get a project done because most people still want to use their masculinity to prove a point. “Therefore, the challenges are pretty hard and women should come together and find a solution for this matter,” she said.

ZyX however expressed gratitude and acknowledged the support of collaborators, including Mr  Glo, Graphic Space Photography, Andrew Ingo Photography, Riah Laquida, and her son who played a crucial role in directing her first music video.

“Usually I like to get myself out there, am not the type of body artist that sits at home and is only seen when needed, I love people; it’s who I am, I can’t change that about me, I mingle with them, play my music, interact on social media.

I try to get my fans involved as much as I can, many of them love me as I was told I can be a clown.

I want them to understand that it’s okay to be you and also do what you love doing. I need them to understand that there’s no right time and right moment . . . do your best always,” she said.

Looking ahead, she teases the release of her album, “The Manual,” scheduled for February, with a potential Valentine’s Day launch.
