WINDHOEK – Black Africa netball club matched the exploits of their male counterparts in familiar fashion when Aunt Ricky’s Babes walked away with the coveted Central Zone Netball League title for the just ended 2013 netball season.

The youthful Gemengde-based outfit emerged victorious after six rounds of matches in the tough and very competitive division one league claiming five wins out of six matches only being on the losing side on one occasion. Aunt Ricky’s Babes, as the Black Africa netball team is affectionately known in netball circles, put up an impressive display that saw them finding the opposition hoops on no less than 200 times, conceding 175 baskets in the process to finish their campaign on 10 points from a possible 12.

Anita Ndjaronguru’s star-studded Civics had to be satisfied with second place, a point adrift of Black Africa despite having gone into the campaign as clear favourites to claim the inaugural edition of the newly established Central Zone Netball League.

Unam Main Campus ended the season in a commendable third place, but the Clever Girls can take solace from the fact that they boast the highest number of goals with 219 baskets to their credit with a goal difference of 8 points off the pace of the log leaders.

African Stars ended in a disappointing fourth place only winning three matches, while losing the same number of encounters to finish the season on 6 points. Tigers and United closed their assignments in joint 5th place, but the Olympia-based outfit edged ahead of their cross-town rivals with a superior goal difference, leaving the Wanderers White Mares with the wooden spoon with a paltry one point, courtesy of a drawn match.
