WINDHOEK – After two losses in a row in their opening games, the Namibian women’s triples team finally celebrated their first victory at the African States Bowls Tournament (AST) underway in the capital yesterday when they dispatched Zimbabwe 26:8.
The win gave the trio of Marietje du Preez, Sheena du Toit and Charlotte Morland some hope to clinch a top two spot and to qualify for the Commenwealth Games next year. Meanwhile, their teammates in the pairs event suffered their third consecutive defeat. Marie van der Merwe and Diana Viljoen had no chance against their Zimbabwean counterparts, going down 11:21.
