WINDHOEK – Two months after the successful launch of the Namib Mills-Top Score Game Breakers League which kicked off in July, the four rounds of the first stage officially ended on July 31. The league started off on a high note, with teams being highly motivated and showing great enthusiasm.

Log leaders M H Greef Primary School got off to a soaring start, beating Herman Gemeiner Primary School 5-1.  M H Greef Primary School continued their winning ways until the fourth round drawing with Theo Katjimune Primary School 1:1. Godwin Eiseb of MH Greef Primary School walked away with the Golden Boot scoring 8 goals, closely followed by his teammate Zodien van Wyk with 7 goals.

Other teams that have shown great potential are Tobias Hainyeko (2nd on the log) with one win and three draws and Maartii Artisaari (3rd on the log) with two wins and two draws.  With another 14 rounds to go before the semi-final stages no clear favourite has emerged and with the trophy still up for grabs, the competing schools will have to come back even stronger.

The league is currently in recess to accommodate exams and schools holidays and will resume again on September 17.  All matches are being played on a Tuesday afternoon at the John Ya Otto Municpal Soccer Field in Katurura.

The youngsters have taken to the Game Breakers League like a duck takes to water. The league is currently in recess.
