WINDHOEK – Brave Gladiators defender Mummy Kasaona is returning home after a successful stint in the Westphalia region, Germany. She is determined to unleash her experience gained in Germany to good effect in anticipation of the CAF Women Championships 2014.

News from Germany, where the Gladiators are currently on their annual tour to Westphalia, is that Kasaona has picked up a lot of experience and is itching to plough that experience back into the local game.

“She is very experienced not just in football but I believe generally she has matured as a player and person. Mummy has always been a responsible, mature and calculated person who always takes her sport and fitness seriously and with determination,” said NFA official Jackey Gertze.

Gertze added that the NFA has committed itself to assist Kasaona and the rest of the players who spend time in the Westphalia league with basic necessities such as their sports/medical insurance, airfares, monthly allowance in addition to the support from their host families in Germany.

“As the NFA Women Department, we are very proud of the NFA for this kind of support to assist the national women footballers who wish to establish themselves among the best players, clubs and environments.”

Gertze also expressed special gratitude to Germany: “It’s not always easy for women footballers to get huge financial contracts with football clubs abroad, more especially if your country has not featured at the World Cup or high profile international events such as the Olympics.

“As a football association the opportunities are always created by the successful women football development programmes that allow players to learn the ropes in Germany, create friendship, network and train at good sports facilities and possibly get a contract with clubs campaigning in the highest women leagues.”

Added Gertze: “We thank the DFB and the NFA technical director Klaus Staerke for the continuous support and coordination in this regard.”
