WINDHOEK — Dillish Matthews, the first-ever Namibian housemate to win the Big Brother Africa (BBA) reality television competition is expected to arrive home today. Matthews survived 91 days in the Big Brother house without being evicted, as it happened with her fellow housemates, who were all booted out by African viewers. Matthews won the coveted US$300 000 cash prize (about N$3 million at the current exchange rate).
According to MultiChoice Namibia spokesperson, Naomi Boys, the beautiful Matthews, dubbed Delicious Dillish, is expected to jet down in Namibia at around 12:00 at Hosea Kutako International Airport, after which a press conference will follow.
The 22-year old Matthews made headlines all over Africa on Sunday when she reached the top three contestants to remain in the house among the 28 housemates drawn from 14 countries, shortly thereafter being declared Africa’s favourite for 2013.
Two contestants represented each of the participating countries. Matthews and Maria Nepembe, who was evicted after five weeks in the house, represented Namibia.
The participating countries were Angola, Botswana, Ghana, Ethiopia, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Kenya, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
