WINDHOEK
He primarily makes use of new actors for his latest stage offering as part of the Bank Windhoek Winter Arts Festival.
This is the view of actor-cum-playwright, Armas Shivute, who spoke about his latest play, ‘Daily Hair Salon and Barber’.
“In essence, the play is a tragic comedy dealing with everyday problems of ordinary people in Katutura and other townships, all day gossiping and many behavioural problems our society struggles with,” said Shivute, who last acted in a Theatre Zone production, ‘The Bigamist’.
According to Shivute, the play has a strong love-story line between a young man and his girlfriend, whom he encourages to open the township salon where all the action takes place.
“The girlfriend is actually one of those unfaithful partners that ultimately lands in the arms of another man due to the eminent breakup of the relationship, which is constantly threatened. However, they split up in a friendly manner and go their separate paths. Its nothing autobiographical, just an idea I have had for quite a long time that is now materializing on stage,” he said of the play with a cast of seven actors, male and female.
The play will be performed next Wednesday at the Warehouse Theatre at 20h00. Advance tickets at N$30 can be bought from the theatre or by calling: 081-288-8809.
