The government commenced with the implementation of the Namibian traffic information system, better known as NaTIS, in March 1998 by opening the Windhoek registering authority, where all vehicle particulars were recorded on a computerized system.
The rest of the country opened its doors for vehicle registration and licensing on this computerized system.
In the case of Keetmanshoop, it was on October 04, 1999.
The implementation of the first module of NaTIS, the vehicle registration and licensing module, was completed in December 2000.
