WINDHOEK
FNB Namibia Holdings will take the central business district (CBD) of the capital by storm tomorrow (Saturday) with a street carnival to mark its centenary celebrations.
Almost all Windhoek-based staff members as well as FNB customers and business associates will participate in this centenary activity.
“Namibia, and Windhoek in particular, will for the first time see a proper street carnival taking place in style,” said Cassius Moetie, Corporate Communications Manager of FNB Namibia Holdings.
He added: “The arrangements are in place and the excitement is building higher and higher every day. We are looking forward to this event, which will also involve the Police Brass Band, the St Andrew’s Primary School drum majorettes, Live to Ride Motor bike club, staff trucks and colourful entertainment.”
The FNB convoy will start marching from Nictus at 11h00 on Saturday morning and will move along Independence Avenue, turn left into Sam Nujoma Drive and then into Reverend Michael Scott Street. The finishing point will be at the upper level of the OK parking lot opposite the Supreme Court where refreshments will await the enthusiastic marchers, Moetie explained.
Staff and everybody participating in the carnival will get together from 09h00 on Saturday morning to get ready to rock and roll, the FNB communications manager said in excitement.
Said Moetie: “The street parade is one of the many other events lined up for the year in which we would like to honour our past and embrace our future as part of our centenary celebrations. We look forward to once again being part of the Namibian people on September 22, and will also reward the onlookers with small tokens of our appreciation for being part of our celebrations.”
“Diarise Saturday, September 22, 2007 and join the FNB family in celebrating 100 years of service, dedication, focus and commitment in Namibia, for Namibians,” Moetie said.
