Windhoek – The second and final round of the 2018 Bank Windhoek Namibia Volleyball Federation’s (NVF) Cup, is pencilled to kick off this weekend with matches scheduled over two days, starting on Saturday.
The two-day sporting gathering will be held at the Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) and University of Namibia’s Main Campus in Windhoek, in that sequence.
The tourney, comprising the country’s leading volleyball teams from all five NVF affiliated Associations, inclusive of gender allow teams to battle it out for a chance to represent Namibia at the annual Zone VI Club Championships, in Durban, South Africa, later this year.
During the competition’s road to the finals, a total of 12 male and eight female teams competed in the group stage round in Rundu, last month.
“It was evident that the level of the competition throughout the years has rapidly increased – hence we are expecting a high level of performance from all participating teams this weekend,” said NVF’s President, Hillary Dux Imbuwa.
The opening match in the men’s quarterfinal sees Central Volleyball Association (CVA) champions, NamPower, take on the champions from the Zambezi Volleyball Association, Katima Mulilo UNAM.
Far Northern Champions, Six Stars VC, will take on UNAM Main Campus VC, with the Erongo Nampol VC facing Eleven Warriors VC, while Khomas Nampol VC will be up against the Vipers from the Kavango Volleyball Association.
In the female category semi final, CVA Champions, NDF takes on Oshikoto NamPol while the far northern champions, Oshana NamPol, lock horns with Revivals.
This particular clashes will be the battle between the top two teams from the Central Volleyball Association and the Far Northern Volleyball Association.

The winners from each category will walk away with a cash prize of N$10 000, gold medals and floating trophy while the runner up will receive a consolation prize of N$8 000 and silver medals, with 3rd place finishers to pick up the pieces for the remaining N$6 000 that comes with bronze medals.
The NVF Cup, kicks off with a volleyball parade from the United Nations (UN) Plaza in Katutura at 07h00 to the SKW Sports ground, to be tailed by the official opening ceremony at 08h00 sharp. The opening match kicks off at 09h00.
