WINDHOEK
The annual AIESEC Namibia Youth Speak Forum (YSF), in partnership with Bank Windhoek, takes place here on Friday when the Youth for Global Goals (#Youth4GG) will also officially be launched.
The YSF, which takes place at the GZ Function Centre, corner of Bismarck & Dr W Kulz Street, forms part of the National Youth Week, which started on Monday and runs until this Saturday.
The theme for this year’s YSF that takes place this Friday is ‘Promoting sustainable entrepreneurship: How youth entrepreneurship can drive economic development and support SMEs to grow’.
Among the keynote speakers who will address delegates are Daisry Mathias, presidential advisor on youth matters and enterprise development, Dennis Zaire, Louisa Shekupe and speakers from the National Youth Council.
A panel discussion consisting of keynote speakers and Bank Windhoek manager for emerging small and medium enterprises Mbo Luvindao will take a look at issues, such as combating youth unemployment through wealth creation and poverty alleviation through SME development.
He will also look at the development of efficient, coherent and consistent business policy making, the role of government in enhancing youth entrepreneurship in Namibia, the Harambee Prosperity Plan (HPP) and enhancing enterprise, innovation development and inspiring enterprise education in Namibia.
Delegates can also register for a free mini-workshop presented by Bank Windhoek on entrepreneurship and how to start and maintain a successful SME.
“I’m excited to share Bank Windhoek’s experience in nurturing and supporting SMEs with the young delegates. It will be an interactive workshop with lively participation from our audience,” says Luvindao.
“Participants will brainstorm and generate answers to “how” questions, creating forward-thinking solutions and working out new approaches to global challenges,” says president of AIESEC Namibia Tobias Mészáros.
In teams the participants’ ideas will take shape by identifying goals, timelines and resources required. All the ideas they come up with in the workshops should be transformed into projects, says Mészáros.
