Rundu
Twenty-four-year-old Ambrosius Haingura Mukonka, who allegedly hacked his father to death at Rundu’s Ndama location, was denied bail in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
He appeared on two charges, of which one is murder read with the Domestic Violence Act 4 of 2003 and attempts to defeat or obstruct the course of justice.
Mukonka was arrested on Saturday after the police suspected him of killing and burying his biological father, Simon Mangundu Mukonka, 49, who worked as a soldier at Rundu military base.
Mukonka’s case was remanded to June 23 for further police investigations and he is going to remain in custody as the State objected to bail because of the seriousness of the charges.
The court felt granting him bail will not be in the interests of justice and he could possibly interfere with the ongoing police investigation.
Mukonka appeared before magistrate Helen Olaiya while Tjeripo Muruko prosecuted. Joseph Kandolinga was the court interpreter.
