Windhoek

The annual Frank Fredericks Foundation (FFF) Fundraising Golf Day was officially launched in the capital yesterday at the Foundation’s headquarters. The prestigious event, which is one of the biggest fundraising initiatives of the Foundation, is slated for October 16 at the Windhoek Golf and Country Club.

Corporate, social and club teams, comprising four members each, can enter the prestigious event for N$7000. Prizes for the top ten teams will be awarded, whilst prizes for the longest drive and the closest to the pin will also be up for grabs. A surprise international guest will grace the event and deliver a motivational speech during the prize-giving ceremony on the evening of ºOctober 16.

“Sport has the power to transform nations and create a lasting positive social change in communities. It provides hope and the desire to know that anything is possible if one sets one’s mind to working hard to achieve it. At the Foundation this vision is no different. We’re passionate about empowering talented young Namibians to pursue a sound sports career, coupled with quality education, which is of paramount importance. The fundraising golf day assists us in achieving this vision,” said Namibia’s sprint legend Frank Fredericks, chairperson of the Foundation.

Speaking at the event, young golfer and FFF scholarship recipient Gabriel Shikodi encouraged all golf enthusiasts to support the noteworthy event: “I’m a direct beneficiary of people who believed in this cause and supported last year’s golf day. I would like to encourage all companies to support this initiative so that many more athletes can benefit from the Foundation.”

Companies or individuals, who are not able to attend the event but would like to make a contribution, are welcome to do so by getting in touch with the Foundation.
