NPL failed to inform CoW about floodlight problem

Home Sports NPL failed to inform CoW about floodlight problem

By Kaino Nghitongo

WINDHOEK – The Head of Sports Recreation at the City of Windhoek (CoW), Uakazuva Kazombiaze, said the Namibia Premier League (NPL) never informed his office before postponing matches at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.

The NPL on Friday announced the postponement of the rounds of 16 and 17 games set for that stadium this past weekend and rescheduled the games to be played during the day due to problems experienced with floodlights there.

“The rescheduling is therefore necessary to avoid incidences of matches being abandoned due to poor light or power blackouts,” the NPL then indicated in their statement.

Kazombiaze said he received no communication from NPL about a problem with the floodlights, adding that if there were such a problem, the CoW would attend to the matter immediately.

Upon enquiry on Friday, NPL’s Chief Administrator, Tovey Hoebeb, said they do not work directly with the office of the head of sports and recreation at CoW, but rather with the office at the stadium, and that is where they send their letters. – Nampa
