KEETMANSHOOP – As the days draw closer to the Presidential and National Assembly elections in November, the Swapo Party’s leadership in the //Kharas region held a strategic campaign workshop over the weekend.
Explaining the purpose of the workshop was facilitator Fluksman Samuehl, who said it is to reflect on the socio-economic and political situation in the region. “This intervention further aims to interrogate the types of election results produced during recent elections, namely that of 2019, 2020 and the recent by-elections in the //Kharas region,” he added.
The former !Nami#Nus constituency councillor said the workshop was to develop practical,
realistic strategies, approaches, actions and undertakings during the ‘Year of Expectations’, as declared by President Hage Geingob.
When it comes to leadership, Samuehl said everything rises and falls on it.
“We are living in an era where Namibian society expects ethical, useful and open leaders. It is only when we as leaders are open, robust and participating in active communication that we can provide solutions to the challenges our people are facing,” he reminded the participants.
The politician thus urged them to actively participate during deliberations to draft a roadmap which will enrich the Swapo Party’s manifesto.
While delivering the welcoming remarks,
Swapo’s //Kharas regional coordinator Matthew Mumbala said the regional leadership should be committed to the course of training until May.
“We need leaders who can clearly articulate the Swapo constitution, particularly familiarise themselves with the aims and objectives contained in it,” he observed. The politician said he hopes to see leaders who are fully equipped to protect the party and its leaders publicly without fear or favour.
“I should, however, remind you that this is the year for Presidential and National Assembly elections. Hence, we should start crafting a regional elections’ manifesto which will at the end be transferred into the Swapo Party’s 2024 elections manifesto,” said Mumbala.
He then implored the participants to continue having faith in the electorate, supporters and the party. – sklukowski@nepc.com.na
