EPUKIRO – The Omaheke Regional Council (ORC) will hold an engagement meeting with various education stakeholders today at Ben van der Walt Primary School in Gobabis.

The meeting is triggered by the recent academic performance, which highlighted the disconcerting trend, underscoring a critical need for collaboration and strategic interventions.

The chairperson ORC Ignatius Kariseb in a media statement said the purpose of the stakeholders’ gathering is to conduct an assessment of the current educational challenges, collaborative problem-solving, intervention strategies, establishing a support network, and inspiring positive change.

The Omaheke governor Pijoo Nganate, regional and local authority councillors, traditional and religious leaders, officials from the regional council, local authorities and government offices, ministries and agencies, tertiary institutions, and chairperson of secondary school boards in the region are expected to attend the meeting.

“Also, the school principals, heads of departments, head boys, and head girls from each secondary school are expected to attend this meeting, as well as the Namibian Police,” said Kariseb.

Omaheke took the 13th position in the 2023 NSSCO regional ranking, a significant drop from position 10 in 2022.
