OSHAKATI – A suspected serial rapist, who evaded capture for nearly a week, has been apprehended at Oshakati.
Warrant officer Frieda Shikole, the Community Affairs Officer of the Namibian Police Force in the Oshana region, confirmed this to Nampa yesterday.
The suspect was arrested on Friday.
Shikole said the suspect was positively identified by four of the victims during an identification parade held at Oshakati.
He faces charges of rape in all the cases.
“All victims are minors,” she stated.
Shikole added that the suspect is a habitual criminal, who is currently facing two separate rape cases involving minors, committed when he was under the age of 18.
He is also subject to a warrant of arrest in two cases of housebreaking and being found in possession of stolen property. These charges were filed after he was granted bail in the two cases which are under consideration in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court.
Shikole confirmed the suspect will be formally charged in all four cases, and is scheduled to appear in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court in due course.
