OTJIWARONGO – The office of the Otjozondjupa governor will host a two-day regional governor’s tournament at Okahandja’s Nau-Aib Sports Stadium this coming weekend.
Senior administrator in the governor’s office, William Virore, said in a media statement yesterday that the tournament, set to start on 8 to 10 September, will select boys and girls who will represent the region in future sports activities, including the Namibian Newspaper Cup scheduled for Omaheke region next year.
Virore said players will compete in netball, football, and boxing at constituency level and urged all seven constituency offices of Tsumkwe, Grootfontein, Otavi, Otjiwarongo, Okakarara, Omatako, and Okahandja to select the best players who meet the requirements of 16 years and above, but not more than 35 years.
He also called on the parents of the selected boys and girls from the constituency levels to support their children and allow them to compete in the regional governor’s tournament, where floating trophies are expected to be won by the best teams in each category. –Nampa
