I am no newcomer to Las Vegas – Nakathila warns

Despite the hullabaloo around his upcoming fight against America’s Raymond Muratalla, Namibia’s former WBO Global super featherweight champion Jeremiah ‘Lowkey’ Nakathila remains calm and has warned his opponent that he is no newcomer to the Las Vegas boxing dugout.

The 32-year-old Nakathila is set to square off against Muratalla (26) at the MGM Grand arena in Las Vegas next month for their 10-round lightweight mega fight, which will see the Namibian returning to the same Las Vegas hunting grounds where he butchered Mexico’s Miguel Berchelt last year.

Speaking to this publication yesterday, Nakathila said he has been hard at work since the fight was announced and will continue to sharpen all rough edges around his preparations until he leaves for the US.

“I’ve been preparing for these big fights for quite some time now, so this upcoming one will be nothing new. As soon as my promoter informed me of the bout, I knew I had to stay ready. I’ve been spending most of my time in the gym, training hard and pushing myself to the limit,” he shared.

Asked about the magnitude of the upcoming fight and the pressure around fighting in Las Vegas, Nakathila said he has become a regular fighter in the US and facing Muratalla at the MGM Grand arena will be another chance to further cement his status there.

“I know this fight is huge, and the pressure is definitely on. But I’ve been to Las Vegas before and have beaten a tough opponent there before, so I know what to expect and fully understand the amount of pressure that comes with fighting in those arenas. I’m ready to leave a lasting impression and make my return to Vegas a memorable one. Muratalla must be reminded that I’m no newcomer to Las Vegas,” he cautioned.

Nakathila has 25 fights with 23 wins (19 knock-outs) and only two losses, while Muratalla boasts 17 fights; 14 via knock-out.

Meanwhile, Nakathila’s promoter Nestor Tobias also expressed confidence in their preparations and readiness for the fight.

“We’ve done everything we need to do to get Nakathila ready for this fight. We train every day, and we’re just waiting for the day to come so that we can execute our plan and finish the job. As a stable, we’re ready to take on any challenge,” he confidently stated.
