Teacher Anna Kaino Hanai felt compelled to write her first book titled ‘From Valley into Gateway of Favours’ as it is her purpose to touch lives.

The theme of the book is derived from the Bible, with the valley referring to troubles and favours referring to grace or mercy.

“It testifies that our troubles can be turned into favours. It reveals that God will come into our situations and change our troubles into favours,” she explained, adding that challenges are there to strengthen us.

Hanai told Youth Corner that initially, the two chapters she wrote in 2014 were not meant for a book as she had a dream to publish stories as newspaper articles.

“Unfortunately, due to lack of information on how to go about it, I just left it idle for years on a computer. In 2021, two of my colleagues had published their books and that was a wakeup call for me,” she said.

Hanai then started expanding on those chapters in 2021 and after finishing writing, she approached a colleague to take her through the publishing process. Everything went smoothly and the book was published in November last year.

She plans to write more books, targeting everyone who is battling with adversities, hopelessness and need to be inspired.

Asked why people should read her book, she said the book reflects real-life experiences and is guidance to many people on how to overcome troubles that could be out of their control.

“The content is educating, informing, yet spiritual. Mostly, it educates youth on how to face challenges, be brave in decision making, be relentless, consistent and persevere. It has numerous life lessons such as being excusable when failing and maintaining a good attitude during hard times. I strongly, believe this book can also be used as a guide on how to overcome adversities.”

Hanai advises people to never give up on their dreams, and consult the right people for right directions to realise their dreams.

“Have a positive attitude toward yourself, believe in yourself, start doing and stop procrastinating your plans and remember this quote: ‘Black child you are smart, you are beautiful, you are able and you can make it’”.

Copies of the book cost N$130 each and are available at Omutulilwa Enterprises Bookshops and Stationaries in Eenhana, Ondangwa and Ohangwena and also with her.
