ONGWEDIVA – Police in the north are searching for two men suspected in two separate incidents of attempted murder that took place over the weekend.
The first occurrence took place in Oshikoto region where a 62-year-old man is fighting for his life at Onandjokwe hospital after he was brutally stabbed in the neck at Onakayale cucashops in Iindongo yaKeelu village in the Omuthiya area.
According to Oshikoto police commander, Commissioner Teopoline Kalompo-Nashikaku, the suspect hitch-hiked in the victim’s vehicle from Omupanda cucashops and he wanted to be dropped off at Onaludiva cucashops.
However, before they could reach their initial destination, the driver changed his mind and decided to refund the suspect as he did not want to proceed to Onaludiva cucashops. It is alleged that the suspect became furious while offloading his belongings. He then physically attacked the victim and in the process, pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim on the neck. He then fled the scene.
The victim was rushed to Omuthiya State Hospital, from where he was later transferred to Onandjokwe State Hospital. He is said to be in a critical condition.
“The suspect is still on the run and we are pleading with the public to help us find him. It is alleged that the suspect fled to work on a farm in Otavi area, in Otjozondjupa region,” said Nashikaku.
In another incident, two people sustained injuries after they were hit by a car driven by someone known to them. It is alleged that the two victims were involved in an altercation when the suspect drove towards them without stopping. He bumped both of them in the process.
The incident took place on Saturday at Ohamwaala village of Outapi constituency, Omusati region around midnight. The suspect, who was driving a silver Toyota Corolla, is yet to be apprehended as he fled the scene. He is however known by the police.
