WALVIS BAY – The police in Erongo are appealing for assistance that would lead to the arrest of three suspects who tied up an 82-year-old Swakopmund resident at his home Friday morning.

The three suspects stole five firearms, his vehicle, and several other items from the victim’s home in Vineta.

According to police spokesperson Ileni Shapumba, the suspects allegedly gained entrance to the house by removing an aluminium window.

“The victim was strangled and tied up. The suspects stole a hunting rifle, a Remington rifle, a Remington shotgun, a Magnum revolver, and a Walter pistol. They also took a Nokia C10 cellular phone and his vehicle,” Shapumba said.

He said the vehicle was found abandoned in the DRC informal settlement on Saturday. Meanwhile, a South African couple was robbed by five men armed with knives at their home in Omaruru last week.

According to the police, alleged robbers broke into the couple’s house, tied them up with tape, and stole various items, including clothing, laptops, phones, money and wallets.

The couple was also forced to transfer money via eWallet to the suspects.

The suspects got away with the couple’s vehicle and items worth over N$300 000.

The stolen vehicle was later found abandoned at Okahandja.
