King Price Insurance has bolstered its mountain biking team with the signing of 22-year-old Namibian top cyclist Alex Miller, who will now be joining the likes of Candice Lill, Philip Buys and Pressmore Musundi for the 2023 cycling season.
Miller, who raced at the Tokyo Olympics and is the current African Mountain Bike champion, brings with him a wealth of experience and a passion for cycling.
‘It’s a great honour to join the King Price Xtreme team. I’m looking forward to representing King Price at races and getting some medals in the process. It really is fantastic to be part of a team that supports athletes across a variety of sporting disciplines,’ said Miller.
King Price’s client experience partner Wynand van Vuuren said they are looking forward to a strong showing from a team that comprises a mix of talent, experience and age.
“This season’s team will build on the strong foundation we put in place last year. We’re looking forward to great results while also having a team that works well together. Even though many consider cycling to be an individual pursuit, with great teamwork and a strong back-office support infrastructure, good results will follow. Miller’s signing gives us more depth and brings new talent into the fold,” said van Vuuren.
Miller has already set his sights on doing well at the upcoming Cape Epic next month. Beyond that, there is qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics, which he also looks forward to.
“Long-term, I’d like to carry on being a professional in the sport. One of my dreams is to move to Spain and race professionally there. But there are still many goals I want to accomplish in South Africa. Being a King Price Xtreme rider gives me the best opportunity possible to do well in the 2023 season,” added Miller.
