The first-ever Kunene Youth Camp Workshop took place recently at the Ijaba Lodge in Outjo. A group of 35 youth, mostly females, indulged in activities such as scavenger hunts, potjie kos cook-offs, night bonfires, training, development and group travels.
Getrud !Hoases, the chairperson of the Kunune Youth Camp Workshop and the Kunene Youth Developers, said in addition to socialising and networking, it is important to spend time worshiping and serving God, adding that “it is important to serve God while you are still young, while you still have the energy to do more”.
Initiated by !Hoases and five other members after attending the One Economy Masterclass training in Outjo, the group decided to introduce the workshop to bring the youth together for entrepreneurial and personal development that encourages them to turn their ideas into reality with the help of trainers instructed to help tackle these ideas.
It took place under the motto, ‘Bringing your ideas into reality’. Because of its successful first time, the goal-driven and committed team has decided to make it an annual event and all youth all over Namibia are welcome to join, network and connect.
The team plans to host another event in six months. Kunene governor Marius Sheya officiated at the event.
