RUNDU – A gala dinner held on Saturday raised over N$200 000 for the Nkurenkuru Expo.
The expo will be held at the Nkurenkuru Expo Site from 28 June 2024 to 07 July 2024.
ReconAfrica, who is the main sponsor of the Nkurenkuru Expo, pledged N$100 000 towards the hosting of the event.
Speaking during the gala dinner, the CEO of the town council Petrus Sindimba invited interested exhibitors to sign up to exhibit their products and services at this year’s expo.
“This year, we have increased our entertainment area and we have 56 stalls, compared to last year’s 15 stalls.
As I’m speaking, seven entertainment stalls have already been booked and paid for,” he said.
He said the demand for entertainment stalls is always high, so those interested should book their stalls on time.
The general stalls have also been increased to 155 compared to last year, when there were 115 stalls.
Only one corporate stall has been booked and paid for thus far.
Sindimba said many companies have asked for application forms, but have not paid to register yet.
Five stalls have been reserved for agricultural products. Patron of the Nkurenkuru Expo, former president Hifikepunye Pohamba, encouraged informal traders to form joint ventures with large investors in order to take advantage of the available opportunities.
Pohamba said there is a shortage of shopping malls in Nkurenkuru, which restricts potential retailers from establishing businesses in the area.
“I kindly urge entrepreneurs in the construction industry to consider building modern shopping malls in Nkurenkuru,” the former president said.
The event was amongst others attended by Minister of Urban and Rural Development Erastus Uutoni, and Deputy Minister of Industrialisation and Trade, Verna Sinimbo.
