Lasarus Mvula, best known by his stage name Lazza, last week dropped exciting new music under the title ‘Affirmation’.
Filled with 18 diverse songs from various genres, the album speaks of his rise in the local music industry, maintaining mental health while also spreading the gospel in the song ‘Kalunga Kandje’ through which he is communicating with God.
The album features various artists such as Manxebe, Nally, Tequila, and Miss Rose.
Lazza (34), who recorded his first song back in 2003 when he was only 15 years old, said it’s one of his best albums yet and most definitely the best in Namibia at the moment.
“I am confident enough to say no other album will outshine mine. The title ‘Affirmation’ is inspired by the hardship faced in the past three years and a friend who lost his job due to retrenchment, resulting in his girlfriend leaving him. This led him into depression and I’m happy he made it out,” Lazza told VIBEZ!
He said that he motivated his friend into starting his own business, which is still standing strong today, and “to no surprise, the girl came back and he turned her down”.
That storyline became the inspiration for one of his personal favourites ‘Ini Hala’, said the excited Lazza.
Another favourite of his is ‘Next Year’, which mainly talks about stopping the habit of postponing and cancellation of plans. Lazza explained the song as “it is best to live in the moment and do things while you still have time because you don’t know what tomorrow holds”.
