The Namibian Volleyball Federation (NVF) will host the Bank Windhoek Schools Tournament at the northern town of Ondangwa tomorrow.
A first of its kind and sponsored by Bank Windhoek, the event will see youth from various schools battling it out for top honours.
“We are delighted to bring volleyball closer to schools. The event will create better competition opportunities for school-going players and also give them an opportunity to compete at the highest level,” said NVF president Hillary Imbuwa.
“The NVF will continue to promote and grow the game in line with our key strategic objective of grassroots development, where schools and teachers are key in meeting this objective.”
The Bank Windhoek NVF Schools Tournament winners will walk away with a floating trophy, medals and cash prizes to the tune of N$10 000.
Imbuwa added that volleyball had become a way of life for many young people.
“We plan to get more stakeholders on board to assist with similar school tournaments in other parts of the country soon. We are looking forward to a great tournament,” he said.
