Project Never Walk Alone will visit its third region this coming weekend to deliver a total of 1 250 pairs of shoes.
The team will cover Omaruru, Usakos, Karibib, Swakopmund and Walvis Bay in the Erongo region tomorrow and Saturday.
The project has already delivered 2 650 pair of shoes in Hardap and Omaheke, and by the end of this weekend, the project would have delivered 3 900 pairs of shoes.
Project Never Walk Alone is a non-profit initiative that raises funds on an annual basis to give needy Namibian children a brand-new pairs of shoes.
Earlier this week, the project received another boost of N$1.1 million, bringing the total commitment of sponsors since its launch in August last year to N$2.7 million. Recon Africa pledged a whopping N$564 000 for 2 400 pairs of shoes for residents of the Kavango East and West regions. CSS Tactical Solutions, owned by Amos Shiyuka, pledged an amount of N$250 000 to bring their total commitment to the project to N$350 000 to date. PSTBET pledged N$100 000 over two years.
The other sponsors are Yum Yum with N$42 000, Social Security Commission (N$35 000), Roads Authority (N$15 000), Cafe Capri (N$15 000) and Legends Barbershop (N$10 000).
Founder and servant of the charity organisation, Tim Ekandjo, thanked all the sponsors and stakeholders, and reiterated that the project requires an amount of N$15 million to cover the current need of over 64 000 pairs of shoes. He said during the project’s launch that “it will run for as long as every Namibian child has a new pair of shoes, no matter how long it takes, because we believe that no child should ever have to go barefoot”.
Meanwhile, a live draw for the iPhone 13 Pro Max competition took place recently, and Pandulo Nepembe from Windhoek walked away as the lucky winner.
