OKAKARARA – After welcoming 156 new members at Okondjatu over the weekend, the Swapo Party’s Okakarara district coordinator Collin Ngujapeua says the party is ready to further expand its reach and take over key settlements in the constituency.
Speaking to New Era on the sidelines of the ongoing Okakarara Annual Trade Fair, he said they have redoubled their outreach efforts with the aim of capturing more areas where Swapo plays second fiddle to other parties such as the National Unity Democratic Organisation and the Popular Democratic Movement.
“The 156 new members who joined us over the weekend is a demonstration that we are making inroads, and taking the party’s ideologies to the people in deep areas. Our people deserve better, and we want to bring solutions to the many problems they face. The Okondjatu welcoming ceremony demonstrated that people there are ready to join a new home, where they will be offered new solutions,” he enthused.
With next year’s elections fast approaching, Ngujapeua said their plan is to further expand the recruitment drive to faraway areas like Okamatapati, Coblenz and the surrounding areas of Okakarara. “When you look at our young farmers, they hardly get the support they need to succeed, and that is one area very close to our hearts. If given a chance to rule those areas, we want to tackle the lack of water connectivity for farmers, drill more boreholes, and make special provision for women and youth empowerment through various schemes. Agriculture is the backbone of our region and constituency, and special attention will be given to that,” the politician buttressed. -ohembapu@nepc.com.na
