The Namibia Sports Commission (NSC) launched the 20th edition of the Namibia Annual Sports Awards (NASA) and the Wall of Fame yesterday.
This momentous occasion marks two decades of cel ebrating the nation’s sporting excellence.
The awards ceremony will take place on 23 November at a venue yet to be announced, while the location and date of the unveiling of the Wall of Fame will be revealed at a later date. The Wall of Fame will be a dedicated space that displays the names, pictures and details of exceptional Namibian sports performers and their contributions to sports.
Details on the venue for the Wall of Fame and the criterion which will be used, will be revealed in due course at a separate event when the logo and adjudication committee is announced.
The NASA will feature 20 categories, recognising a broad spectrum of sports personalities. These include athletes with and without d i s a bi l i t i e s , n a t i ona l federations, officials, sports journa l i sts and spor t s legends. Only achievements between 1 October 2023 and 30 September 2024 will be considered for this year’s awards.
Mag i c Ny ambe, the awards project director, stressed the importance of this year’s milestone. “This year’s edition aims to honour the journey of sports excellence by celebrating and commemorating 20 years, of passion and dedication for the love of sports,” Nyambe said.
“We wish to reflect on the legacy of sports, not just focusing on the athletes, but also on the team working behind the scenes to make sports possible. We want to highlight the achievements of the past 20-years and recognise those who have made it all possible.”
Ny ambe al s o urged federations to submit athletes’ names promptly, avoiding last-minute rushes.

3. Sportswoman of the Year
4. Junior Sportsman of the Year
5. Junior Sportswoman of the Year
6. Sportsman of the Year with Disability
7. Sportswoman of the Year with Disability
8. Junior Sportsman of the Year with Disability
9. Junior Sportswoman of the Year with Disability
10. Sports Team of the Year
11. Coach of the Year
12. Referee of the Year
13. Sports Development Programme of the Year
14. National Federation of the Year
15. Chairperson’s Award
16. People’s Choice Sports Star of the Year
17. Community Inspiration Award
18. Professional Athlete of the Year in Diaspora
19. Sports Journalist of the Year: Print, Radio and Digital
20. Lifetime Achievement Award
