FNB Namibia Rugby Union (NRU) league log leaders Unam extended their lead by beating Kudus 31-21 on Saturday.
The win sees Unam maintain their position on the log with a total of 66 points from 14 matches played.
Meanwhile, the 2018 NRU league champions Wanderers remain in second position with 63 points, after dismantling newly-promoted side and coastal outfit Dolphins 0-66.
Kudus, who suffered a setback over the weekend, however, remain third on the standings with a total of 53 points.
Grootfontein, who played at home this weekend, remained fourth on the standings with 39 points after they embarrassed Khomasdal outfit Western Suburbs with 61-7.
On the other hand, Rehoboth narrowly beat Reho Falcon by 31-30.
In the reserve league, Grootfontein beat Suburbs 33-12, while Unam secured a 15-14 win over Kudus.
Rehoboth showed that they were a better team, as they thrashed Reho Falcon 21-4.
Speaking to this publication yesterday, Unam head coach Russel van Rooi expressed his satisfaction with his team securing the much-needed points.
He emphasised that the win was crucial for their preparations for the upcoming playoffs.
“We went into the match with a winning mentality, and that’s what we did, although we made a lot of mistakes. However, it was important that we collected maximum points, as this is what we need ahead of the tough playoffs,” he said.
