Futsal, Harders Cup get cash injection

The Namibia Diamond Trading Company has announced a sponsorship of N$450 000 for the Futsal League, along with an additional N$200 000 for the upcoming Lüderitz Harders
Cup.

At the handover event which took place at the Windhoek Showgrounds alongside the Mining Expo, Corporate Affairs Executive Manager at NDTC Helena Mootseng said they understand the value support brings to the Namibian nation, hence their sponsorship.

“Therefore, our focus on people and the partnerships we forge to ensure thriving communities. I am thus pleased that we can today announce two sponsorships in line with our strategic objectives. Futsal is an exhilarating, high- impact and fast paced brand of football – almost like the markets in which we operate, that is taking Namibia by storm. Innovative and passionate about nurturing local talent, and so we are delighted to announce our investment.

“Then, if you deem yourself a true Namibian, you must have heard of the Harders Cup. A community project hailing from the south, the cup which kicked off in 2017, is the biggest regional soccer tournament comprising Lüderitz teams. This initiative which creates enormous social cohesion, has been absent from our social calendar for a few years but has now been reignited with great gusto.

These two sponsorships are about partnership – strengthening partnerships for development.

Isack Hamata, from the Namibia Football Association, said the Futsal League is relatively young, but has made big strides in a short period of time. He added that the team took part in four international competitions and even though they didn’t win a match, they ignited excitement.
