The Khomas Netball Region will host trials for the upcoming All Ages Games tomorrow at the Windhoek High School grounds, starting at 09h00.

The trials will focus on the U/21 female, senior male and senior female age groups.

One of the coaches who are contucting the trials, Dimitri Bitler, said the Khomas School Sports Region has successfully selected athletes from various age groups, and is in a strong position to finalise the remaining age groups during the upcoming trials.

“This process will ensure that the most-talented and deserving athletes are chosen to represent the region at the All-Ages Games, which will take place in the coastal town of Swakopmund on 12 October. 

“We understand that hosting trials on a weekend may pose challenges for some participants. However, it is the only time that allows us to gather the most players and coaches. 

This timing ensures maximum participation, which is crucial for a fair and comprehensive evaluation process. It is important to emphasise that the selection process will be transparent and based on merit, giving every participant an equal opportunity to be chosen,” he added.

He also explained the importance of activating male netball for Olympic inclusion, as well as why male players will form part of the trials. 

“In line with our commitment to advancing sports in Namibia, the Khomas Netball Region strongly believes in the potential of male netball to elevate the sport to an international level. 

Activating male netball is not just about gender inclusivity, but a strategic move to align with global standards, where male participation in netball is growing. 

This inclusion is crucial for netball’s bid to become an Olympic sport. By integrating male athletes into netball, we not only broaden the sport’s appeal, but also strengthen our national teams, making them more competitive on the world stage.

We are also in discussions with the soccer fraternity to potentially include soccer in the All-Ages Games. 

This addition would further diversify the event, providing another platform for young athletes to display their talents.
