Sebastianus Nathanael, a prominent boxer from the MTC Nestor Boxing Academy, fell short in South Africa when he lost his bout in the sixth (6) round against Azinga Fuzile.
The fight took place this past weekend at the Orient Theatre in East London, South Africa, where the two squared off in an exciting boxing event.
Nathanael started off the fight on a strong note, matching Fuzile’s intensity and entertaining the packed Orient Theatre crowd for the first two rounds.
However, in the third round, Nathanael suffered a setback when he dislocated his left shoulder.
Despite the injury, he continued the fight, showing remarkable determination.
Recognising the severity of the situation, his trainer Nestor Tobias made a difficult decision to stop the fight at the beginning of the sixth round.
Reacting to the defeat, he expressed disappointment, while maintaining that this is part of the sport discipline, and anything is likely to happen.
“Not the result we would have wanted, but this is boxing. Anything can happen. But overall, I am happy that we continued to secure fights for our boxers as that helps them in getting their rankings up there,” he stated.
On the way forward, he said, “We will go back to the drawing board and correct what is wrong. But for him, he would have to nurse that injury. We want him to get better, then we will continue with what we do, and get him a fight in the future to continue striving for bigger and better boxing bouts,” he added.
