On Sunday, Nedbank Namibia hosted the fourth edition of its highly anticipated running event, the Nedbank Citi Dash.

The sporting event saw more than 2 000 participants take part in different road running categories, which included a 10 kilometre (km) elite race, 10km fun race and 5km fun race.

The event, which has become a staple in the community’s fitness and lifestyle calendar, brought together running enthusiasts, families and individuals of all fitness levels to promote health, wellness and an active lifestyle.

The picturesque route, stretching across Windhoek’s Independence Avenue, offered participants a unique opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors while challenging themselves physically.

From seasoned runners aiming to beat their personal best times to beginners enjoying a leisurely run, the event catered to all.

All the runners received participation medals and refreshments for taking part.

Elite runners, Daniel Paulus and Martha Shivolo, won big in the elite men’s and women’s categories, respectively.

The two walked away with N$7 000, a trophy and a winner’s medal each for achieving this incredible feat.

Paulus broke the course record by completing the 10km race in a time of 28 minutes and 53 seconds.

Speaking on the success of the event, Nedbank Namibia spokesperson Selma Kaulinge said the bank continues to sponsor the running event as part of its commitment to promoting health and wellness.

She added that running events that promote an active lifestyle like the dash also align with Nedbank’s values of encouraging a healthy, balanced lifestyle, which in turn supports mental and physical well-being.
