CN joins forces with FNB

Cricket Namibia (CN) and First National Bank (FNB) have strengthened their partnership by signing a new agreement yesterday.

The financial details and duration of the partnership were not disclosed at the press conference.

The associate sponsorship will see the national men’s cricket team donning shirts with the FNB logo.

The CEO of CN, Johan Muller, hailed the partnership as a crucial support for the team.

He highlighted that FNB already holds the naming rights to the FNB Cricket Stadium, set to host International Cricket Council Cricket World Cup matches between 2026 and 2027.

“We are proud to announce FNB as an associate sponsor for the Eagles team. The FNB logo will be on the back of our match shirts, and it’s been proudly displayed during our games in the Tri-Series. This partnership is a wonderful boost for the team,” Muller said.

FNB’s CEO of retail Nangula Kauluma expressed excitement about supporting cricket, one of the country’s fastest-growing sports.

She noted FNB’s commitment to sports development, and said backing the Eagles was the right decision.

“In July, we were honoured to announce our sponsorship of the FNB Namibia Cricket Stadium, marking an exciting chapter in Namibian sports. Today, I am pleased to unveil another significant partnership that reinforces our commitment to the growth of sport in Namibia,” she said.

“By investing in our national cricket team’s future success, we are helping our athletes shine on the global stage, bringing pride and recognition to Namibia,” Kauluma noted.

The Eagles are currently competing in the Tri-Series against the United States of America and the United Arab Emirates.

Team captain Gerhard Erasmus expressed gratitude for FNB’s continued support.

“It’s a special partnership for us. We’ve been a successful team both locally and internationally, and this new partnership will hopefully propel us to perform even better in upcoming competitions,” he said.
