Pohamba: Accept defeat

OKANGHUDI – Former president Hifikepunye Pohamba has urged Namibians to cast their votes peacefully, and urged losing candidates to accept defeat.

He was speaking shortly after casting his vote at the polling station at his home village Okanghudi in the Ohangwena region yesterday.

“I want to be very emphatic on this point of peace… Namibia, ever since we started it, we have always demonstrated our peace during elections, and I want us to follow the same way as we did in the past,” noted the former president.

The elderly statesman said in a democracy, citizens have to vote for their leaders, and Namibians are doing so in a peaceful manner, as expected.

“All eligible Namibian citizens are required to cast their votes whenever elections take place in the country. I am so happy that the time has come in 2024 for me to cast my vote,” he added.

At the same time, Pohamba told all Namibians “I wish you a joyful Christmas and prosperous New Year”.
