MARIENTAL – The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) in the Hardap region is making progress with vote-counting and data-submission following voting Wednesday. ECN Hardap regional electoral officer, Willem Uirab told Nampa yesterday that three constituencies – Aranos, Daweb and Gibeon – have finished counting ballots, and were in the process of uploading results to the ECN database.

The results will then be verified and audited before being forwarded to the ECN headquarters.
Uirab stated that election officials in other constituencies such as Mariental Urban, Mariental Rural, Rehoboth Rural, Rehoboth Urban East and Rehoboth Urban West are still counting ballots.

He added that Rehoboth Urban experienced network issues throughout the data upload process, but administrators were able to overcome the hurdles and continue to upload data.

“Despite the network issues, the process in the Hardap region is progressing steadily,” said Uirab.
He noted that the continuous network challenges require patience, but that officials are working hard to guarantee that the counting and data-submission processes are completed.

“The ECN will inform Namibians once all votes in the region have been counted, verified and approved by the ECN head office,” he stated.
The electoral officer did not specify when the final results from Hardap will be available, but promised to provide feedback as soon as it is available.
